My oldest son decided to get a tattoo for his eighteenth birthday. So, Saturday morning we headed out to the local tattoo parlor with several prototype designs in mind. The tattoo artist (Dave) was quick to come up with a design that he thought was good. We thought it was great! Here is the finished product:

It took about an hour to completely 'ink' it and Adam handled the pain pretty well considering. I have had a few myself and they do hurt...
I will post some additional pictures in the family photo album soon and I also have some videos of the process. Cool!
I had my third ride along with the Nassau County Sheriff's Office this weekend. It was boring and relatively uneventful. The night ended early after the officer's car had several mechanical and electrical problems.
I will be going to get my uniforms for the Police Academy toady. I should be finding out soon when the exact start date of the academy will be and I'll probably start to get nervous about it all. If I can get through the first month of the academy, I should be OK.
I might have time to squeeze in one more ride along, perhaps with JSO, before I begin the academy classes. After I start, there will be almost no time for anything. ![]()
I passed my oral review board last night and was formally accepted into the police academy. It was a pretty tough hour long interview that had a lot of demanding questions. Some of it was the usual interview stuff (describe strengths, weaknesses, etc) but some of the questions were really hard to answer. A couple of times I thought that I might be analyzing too much of what they were asking. In the end, all that matters is that they unanimously passed me and welcomed me 'aboard'. It was a big relief.
I should be starting the third week in October. For now, I have to go and purchase all of the necessary uniform things that I will be using throughout the academy. Its going to run me around $300 bucks but I have had the money set aside for months now anticipating this. I am looking forward to starting the academy but am a little nervous about it too.
I will be sure to keep everyone posted on my progress but I may have little time to update my blogs over the next year.
I shall do my best!
Monday night, our long time friend and co-worker, Tim McConnell died suddenly of a heart attack. He was only 41. We are all stunned and speechless at this tragedy. We spent several hours with his wife and one of his children Monday night into Tuesday morning and will continue to help them in any way we can. If you would like to help in any way, please call me or my wife and let us know.
