This weekend I had the opportunity to personally observe J-ville's finest. I rode for the first time with members of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for about 11 hours on Sunday. It was a very interesting day with calls about silent alarms, accidents, speeders, domestics and even a DUI. Seeing first-hand what these guys have to put up with on a daily basis sure gives me an appreciation for what they do. It also gives me a keen perspective on what I have to look forward to in law enforcement.
One of the major gripes I have with my current job is that I get no true sense of accomplishment or satisfaction from what I do. I know that at the end of the day on patrol there is a great sense of accomplishment and the feeling that we have made a difference in certain people's lives. (some good, some not so good!)
All of this gives me a renewed excitement and energy toward seeing my goals through. I am continuing to lose weight (44 pounds so far!) and have started to exercise regularly and WILL be in the police academy sometime within the next 7 or 8 months. ![]()
