Aint Karma A Bitch?

Super Losers!

The New England Patriots, under their head coach Bill Belicheat, tanked Super Bowl XLII last night and ended their hopes of a 'perfect' season. I'm not usually one to gloat over another's misery. Hell, I don't even care about the NY Giants (and not just because their head coach once coached the Jaguars). In fact, other than the possibility of the Patriots losing last night, I had no real desire to even watch this Super Bowl.

Why do I care? First of all, nothing bores me to tears more than seeing the same one or two teams in championship games year after year. This phenomenon is not something that is unique to football. Almost every major league sport has a team that for several years will dominate. Some might call that a dynasty - I call it booooring. You're probably thinking that I would not feel that way if my team won every year. (I'll have to get back to you on that one since I've never been that fortunate!)

Next, we have the cheating issue. I have heard every excuse possible from Pats fans since they were caught blatantly stealing defensive signals from the Jets earlier in the season. The most common (and false) justification is that "every team does it". Bullshit. I don't believe that for a minute. You might as well say that "every baseball player does steroids" too. I will fully admit that there are probably other teams that cheat and have just not gotten caught yet, but to say that they all do it is merely a way for Pats fans to try and make themselves feel better about it all. If you are an honest person, you could not possibly feel good about the prospect of a 'perfect' season when the scales were unfairly tipped toward the Pats - all on the backs on their unsuspecting opponents. Good for the Jets for turning them in. Shame on the NFL for not making the Patriots forfeit that game. They truly did not deserve to win.

Congratulations to the NY Giants for winning the Super Bowl and de-throning the Patriots and especially Tom Brady. This Super Upset is proof positive that the Patriots were a one man show and had no depth as a team. (Not to mention an utter lack of class with all their pre-game smack talking) Bill Belicheat was so pissed off at the end of the game, he refused to return to the field to watch the last snap. What a sore loser. How does it feel Bill? Reminds me of the old saying: "cheat cheat never beat".

Mixed Bag

One week at the academy down and about 46 more to go! The first week went pretty well - all things considered. The stupid uniform company did not have all of my stuff ready for the start of the academy so I have been wearing business attire. There are several other students who do not have uniforms either so at least I don't stick out like a sore thumb. The instructor who handles PT at the academy was out last week so we did not have to exercise on Tuesday as planned. Unfortunately, he is back and we will be PT'ing tomorrow. I am NOT looking forward to that! The curriculum so far has been all about law. Constitutional law, case studies and a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo for starters. Boring but necessary.

I still think about my brother-in-law, Paul a lot. For some reason I seem to have slipped into a bit of a funk and will frequently 'see' things that had to do with his death (usually just before I fall asleep). It is very much in the front of my mind recently and I don't know why. I guess it is a normal part of the healing process. A part of me still does not want to accept the fact that he is gone although I know for sure he is. It just doesn't make sense. Perhaps I feel this way because there are still unanswered questions about the circumstances of his death. Additionally, I feel kind of spooked about the possibility of my immediate family being involved in some sort of fatal accident and it keeps me up at night.

On a brighter note; THE RED SOX WON THE WORLD SERIES!!! Go Bo-Sox! Now if the Bruins would take notes from the Sox and the Patriots, I would be a REALLY happy man! The Jaguars won a squeaker over the Buccaneers this weekend, improving their record to 5-2. Our starting QB is out with an injury so I did not expect the Jags to win but it's nice that we did. I'll take a close win over a blow-out any day because it makes for interesting watching.

I have almost NO time for studying which makes blogging even harder but I will do my best to keep you updated at least once a week.

WooHoo!! Patriots LOSE!!

Last night I got the most satisfaction I've had in a long time (no offense Nanner).
I got to go to bed right after seeing the look on Tom Brady's face when he ended the Patriots season with a thrown interception. YESS!!!!! Pats go home and the Colts move on.

I must give Indy credit, for once, they did not choke in the post-season. I might also remind everyone that when the Colts came to Jacksonville last December, the Jaguars kicked their ass (44-17). Of course we lost to the Texans... TWICE! Anyway, I'm just happy the freekin Patriots aren't in the Super Bowl this year. It gives me a reason to watch it now.

I'm sick with what appears to be a head cold at this point. I hope it doesn't get any worse. Adam was up all night puking and Nanner has green snots. Yummy!

I went out on Sunday with TD and had a great time. We did geeky things like roam around CompUSA and then spent hours at Dave and Busters playing video games! We must do it again sometime soon. :D

Happy New Year!

Well, we've survived another enchanting round of the holidays and are none the worse for wear (whatever that means).

I started my year-long quest Monday to lose 100 pounds in one year. I am doing Weight Watchers and some mental exercising. My other site is up and running and you can check it out to monitor my progress: Tired Of The Weight.

Jaguars are done for the season. My new mission in life is to root for any team that plays the f***en Patriots!

Lets go Jags!

If you happen to be watching Monday Night Football tonight, keep in mind I am just behind your camera at center field - eating pizza, drinking beer and whistling as loud as I can. Why not shout? Would if I could. I am getting over a nasty chest/head cold that kicked my butt all week. Lost most of my voice shortly after the last Jags game. I know my Mom will probably read this and tell me I should stay home and rest. (I'll be sure not to mention what the temps will be like tonight in Jacksonville) :D

I love the MNF games at Alltel. There is always something fun and exciting going on. I will enjoy it while I can since we probably wont be renewing our season tickets next year. Not that we don't want to, we just are not sure if we'll have jobs next year! (Government is down-sizing)

Turkey Day is coming! I love Thanksgiving. In fact, I love this whole time of year. We'll be going to Jan and Russ's for the big feast and I can't wait!

Since I probably won't blog for a while, I hope everyone, particularly my family out of state and abroad has a wonderful Thanksgiving.
